Lafayette Offers Plenty of Fun for the Entire Family

Adventuring in Lafayette can be even more fun when you can bring the whole family. With so many different family-friendly things to do, you can easily plan enough to fill an entire weekend. We have put together our favorite things to do to help you plan a day the kids will love in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Children’s Museum of Acadiana

This hands-on museum is great for younger children and their families. The interactive exhibits allow them to express and challenge themselves, all while having a great time. You can bring the kids out for a day of exploration, creativity, and imagination while you follow or play along. Admission is $7 for anyone over 1 year old. The Children’s Museum of Acadiana is located at 201 East Congress Street.

Sky Zone Trampoline Park

Do your kids have some energy they need to burn? If so, visit Sky Zone. This indoor network of trampolines, rock climbing walls, and even a ninja warrior course let them burn off some energy. The park also hosts events such as Glow, which includes lasers, music, and a place to show off some dance moves. Sky Zone is $40 a day and includes instructor-led activities and free jumping. You can find Sky Zone Trampoline Park of Lafayette at 3814 Ambassador Caffery Parkway.

Pack & Paddle

Lafayette is great for families that love the outdoors. At Pack & Paddle, they can help you and your kids explore by renting out kayaks and other equipment. They offer private trips and allow you to choose trip type, difficulty, and location. This is an amazing way to spend some quality time with the kids. They do require reservations plus a fully refundable deposit. The address is 601 East Pinhook Road.

Vermilionville

Vermilionville brings together history, culture, and the ways that people lived in the 1800s in a way that is entertaining. It is located on 23-acres and has 19 different attractions. Your family can learn about the traditional crafts and historic homes that were made around the 1800s. Admission is $10 for adults and $6 kids from 5-18 years old. Vermillionville is located at 300 Fisher Road and is open every day but Monday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Swamp Tours

There are several different tour companies available to show you and your family the best areas in Lafayette. Our favorite is offered by Cajun Food Tours. If you choose the All-Day Cajun Experience, you get to enjoy a guided tour of the Vermilionville Village, see Lake Martin with Champagnes Swamp Tours, and take dance lessons with Glide Studios.

There are also several more stops along the way, including dining at some local favorite Cajun eateries. While it can be a little pricey at $139 for adults and $129 for kids, you don’t have to pay separately for food or for the activities at each stop. All of the admission and food is paid for with your food tour ticket. The kids will love dancing, food, and seeing some swamp animals!
