3 Great Seafood Restaurants in Lafayette

As the second-largest supplier of seafood in the U.S., the state of Louisiana offers an abundance of fresh, quality seafood. To savor this state’s delicious seafood, visit these quality seafood restaurants in Lafayette, Louisiana.

1. Lagneaux’s

Lagneaux’s is a family-owned and run restaurant that has been serving delicious seafood in Lafayette for over 40 years. Founder, Meus Lagneux, wasn’t dubbed the “Seafood King” by the community for nothing, and his children and grandchildren have dedicated themselves to continue the tradition of providing fresh and top-quality seafood at Lagneaux’s.

The restaurant is especially known for its large, old-fashioned Cajun seafood buffet that consists of all the local favorites, including crawfish, crab, and catfish. As most of the dishes at this restaurant are based on Louisiana-style recipes, you can expect a lot of deep-fried and comfort-food options. Patrons can also opt to order from the menu, which offers a variety of delicious seafood dishes, as well as a few steak options. A local favorite is the seafood platter, served with seafood Jambalaya, stuffed shrimp and crab boulettes, shrimps, oysters, catfish, and frog legs.

2. Louisiana Crawfish Time

Back in 2000 when the doors of the Louisiana Crawfish Time first opened, it was the worst crawfish season in history. Despite the tough times, the founder kept believing that his restaurant would become one of Louisiana’s best boil houses. It’s fortunate that he did as, today, this is indeed the case. The focus at this joint falls on the seafood, which is fresh and delicious. To this end, the shack-like venue is unassuming and decidedly plain. However, everything is clean and the atmosphere is cheery and lively.

Patrons can choose to sit down for a meal or can order from the drive-thru menu. The no-frills menu offers tasty starters like crawfish with an artichoke dip, a corn and crab bisque, and both raw and charbroiled oysters. For mains, you can choose from a selection of boiled or fried seafood options, including catfish, shrimp, crab, and oysters. All entrees are served with fries, slaw, and French bread. If you feel like a sandwich, opt for a catfish, shrimp, or oyster po’boy with chips.

3. Rachael’s Cafe

Rachael’s Cafe is a small, family-owned cafe that was founded in 2012 with a vision of providing a wide selection of Cajun and Creole dishes, many of which showcase Louisiana’s abundant seafood. Since that time, the ever-growing popularity of the cafe led to an expansion of the dining-room area, as well as a new catering business and a frozen specialty seafood line.

The menu offers a selection of starters, salads, sandwiches, soups, and entrees. If you’re there for the seafood, opt to start your meal with fried scallops, fried crab claws, stuffed shrimp, or crab cakes. You could also go for a hearty shrimp and okra soup or the divine crawfish bisque. For mains, treat yourself to the seafood platter, served with stuffed crab, shrimp, catfish, crab claws, and seafood Jambalaya, or the Cafe Special, which consists of stuffed bell peppers, crawfish etouffee, fried shrimp, crab au gratin, and seafood gumbo.

If it’s fresh, quality seafood you’re after, go for a meal at these great seafood restaurants that all provide distinctly different culinary experiences.
